Now Here is a Comment Worth Sharing: “Time to get to know the hardy Filipino people”
If you go to CNN and scroll to the comments after their main article on Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda you will see that the following comment by dudesk001 has been voted to the top and is starting to go a little viral is this one:
Time to get to the know the hardy Filipino people…unbelievably resilient, long suffering, good natured, uber friendly, loyal, ingenius, and a bunch of survivors.
At the end of the day the Filipinos will just shake off the dirt from their clothes and thongs and go about their business…and SMILE. They do not complain much, they will bear as long as they can.
Maybe this is why they were given the “privilege” of bearing the burden of the strongest typhoon ever recorded.
The indomitable human spirit at its finest.
I couldn’t agree more, or say it better. The world will get to see the spirit of the Philippines.
A few years ago I published a post of photos of Filipinos helping each other, and I will repeat it here now. The pix are not from yesterday and today — they are older ones, but they capture the spirit that the world will soon see.
Photo of people helping each other in a typhoon leads to a gallery bayanihan images
I was watching some youtube videos and came across a picture from the Philippines showing some kids hoisting another kid out of a tricyle trapped in typhoon flooding. I had never seen this particular picture before — but I found myself really feeling like it captures, very dramatically, a spirit of “bayanihan” that is distinctly Filipino. And after looking at this, I did an online search and found so more images on the subject of the Bayanihan Spirit — they’re below as well.
